Pokémon Weekly Issue 2

Pokemon of the day:
Alakazam
Speed and Special make this pokemon a good choice. With a max special of 368, it can over come many opponents with a few psychics. The only downfall of this pokemon is the requirement to trade it for it to evolve from kadabra. Alakazam also learns some of the best attacks in the game (two of which being recover and psychic). With the 1.5 type bonus, a psychic from this pokemon can do a lot of damage. A move set that seems to be common for this pokemon is :
Recover
Psychic
Psybeam
Reflect
The above set of moves utilizes its high special, and lets it recover any damage that might have been inflicted in the battle. It also helps him out with his lack of defense. Overall, this pokemon is a great choice.
Move of the day:
Blizzard
To start off, ice attacks are effective when facing grass, flying, ground and Dragon pokemon. Also, ice attacks are based on special. It has a decent accuracy (89.5%), and loads of power (it being the strongest ice type move). It also has one of, if not, the best status change in the game (Freezing), and it has a three times better chance to freeze a pokemon than ice beam does. As Azure Heights put it “Nothing brings an enemy closer to defeat than being frozen.” This move is also a tm, which makes it a great choice for any high special pokemon that can learn it. The one downfall of this move is its low amount of pp, but that can’t compare to its power.
